2011 Delivered From Heaven

Year end review of 2011 and what to expect in 2012!

What a year!  It started in late 2010.  I received a call from my dad saying that he wanted to live in California.  The good news is we had nearly four months with him.  I learned a lot of things about my family that I had never known before.  After four months, he moved back to the east coast, where he passed in August at age 90.  While he was here we celebrated his 90th birthday on January 14th.  We had about 35 guests come to his house in Vista.  They included friends he had made over the years during visits to Oceanside and family from my mother’s side of the tree.

We spent a wonderful April in Carlsbad, one block from the ocean.  Each night we walked up town for dinner.  Most nights we walked on the beach.  Mornings I ran on the sand or on the path overlooking the beach.  Hearing the ocean from our bungalow was very relaxing.  The house in Carlsbad provided convenient office space for meetings with clients.

By May we were back at 2103 Wedgewood in Oceanside.  New roof, tile on the floors, and carpet were completed in May and June.  By late June our new backyard was completed.  It has a ‘Zen Theme’ (waterfall and stream by Brian Best of where I can now meet with clients (see video link for garden details  The downstairs has now been converted to accommodate clients in the three separate areas.  The ‘Zen’ garden, glass sunroom, and entry can all be used separately or simultaneously to meet with clients and prospects.  This summer we hosted The Blend Magazine for a luncheon and wine sampling.  We even got some work done (13 video tips for 2012 and a commercial) and a new business idea (read on for details of this new idea.)

Business growth continues to be a focus.  The last 24 months have been fruitful.  ProVisors has provided me the opportunity to add almost 700 contacts to my data base.  Of those 700 I have created 70 solid business referral sources.  The time I have been investing in networking groups will now be invested in my LinkedIn Strategy.  We will be doing Purposeful Networking using LinkedIn.  We will do referral exchange with 25 Advocates (people who bring the business world to you.)  Each of the 25 Advocates will open their LinkedIn Connections to me.  I will do the same for them.  We will exchange business prospects and/or referral partners.  Each introduction will be face to face to facilitate a positive exchange which will deliver business referrals or a client engagement.  We want the reason for connecting to be clear as to the reason we are making the business connections (referral partner or client/prospect.)

We will also be partnering with businesses who can add value to our clients’ ability to do business sooner than later.  One of those partnerships that we are working on is with Doug Taber (  Doug is responsible for getting me excited about LinkedIn.  Since Doug reworked my profile I have attracted many new business connections through LinkedIn.  One of those is Antarctic Mike (  Mike has already introduced me to an insurance agent who has 4000 agents in the US.  All of those agents fit my target market profile!  This is just one of the many stories since November of 2011.  2012 will be a great year.  May you also have a healthy, happy, prosperous New Year!
