Giving to Receive to Give Again!

Many of you have heard me speak of the Four Pillars of INTEGRITY.  Some say I should speak of them more frequently.  They are:

  1. Give to receive to give again
  2. Working with people of the highest moral values and ethics
  3. Collaboration
  4. Abundance

For this article I am focusing on “Give to receive to give again.”  My reason is that as I go through my daily routine I see too many of you getting less than what you deserve.  If given the chance I would do for you what I did for this special friend below.

When I speak of the pillar “Give to Receive to Give Again” I have had good people shake a finger at me saying, “You are only in business to get,” as if getting is a bad thing.  I agree that I am in business to receive.  I see value in what I deliver and so do others.  I challenge those who think they only give because they are benevolent to consider this world truth, “We all give to get.”  Have you ever heard the expression, the joy is in the giving?  Many philanthropists give for “joy.”  I defy anyone who reads this article to tell me that they give only for the sake of giving.  Back to my special friend and what I offer each of you.

Recently I sat with a very talented individual (my special friend.)  For nearly four decades this person has been a pillar in the community.  In many homes this person’s name is a “household” word.  Peers in this industry make in excess of six figures in their nine to five position.  With endorsements and other contracts these peers make anywhere from $350,000 to $500,000 per year in their trade.  Within the last two years this individual was nearly homeless!

As we sat discussing a project with one of my clients, I asked this individual how he is compensated.  The reply was something to the effect of “In the after life I will get my reward.”  My client looked at me with astonishment in her eyes.  As an important note, my client provides services to the needy.  This individual was telling my client and me how to increase revenues in our businesses to better serve our constituents.  I saw such talent sitting in front of me, I could only do one thing.  I needed to liberate this person.

My client sitting at this meeting currently serves less than 4 percent of her target market.  With the help of this individual she could easily serve 20 percent in the next two to three years.  This individual can provide all of the information necessary to market her business.  This individual deserves to get paid!

To make my point I asked this individual, “Do you see value in what you do?  As you can show my client how to generate $10,000 more in revenue this year, with the potential of earning five to 10 times that in the next year (and future years), do you deserve to be compensated?”  This individual was nearly in tears, blessing me for enlightenment.  For the next decade to come, what is given will no longer come for free.  A value will always be placed on the service and will be paid in full.

Benevolence needs to be a part of all of our lives.  When considering destitution comparing that to being paid, we all need to consider the latter rather than the former.  Are you being paid what you are worth?  Will you consider giving to receive to give again?  I am always available for conversation around this important business topic.  Email or telephone 760-439-4623 reference this topic, please.
