More Scripts and Things to Do to Get Your WANT

So, you now might ask ‘How do I become clear on my WANT?’ First start with the people who already know and love you. They are a natural reflection of yourself. You have chosen these folks because they are what you see through your window of observation saying, ‘That is who I’d like to be.’ Mostly we choose friends because we like being with them. They are fun to hang out with. Take a good look at those people. They can help you discover what you WANT.

One thing that is true for all successful people I know, is that they all discover that nothing great happens alone. Success is made by choosing to surround yourself around successful people. Successful people will help you build the relationships you WANT. Great relationships will deliver great WANTS. The best way to get started is to ask those who already know and love you who they know that might help you get your WANT

Do you belong to a church, chamber of commerce, or other large group? Have you told that group in a clear way what it is that you WANT? It is important to qualify what we WANT. Be specific. Be focused.

If the result from your WANT is to be healthy, ask yourself ‘What does healthy look like?’ Is weight important to you or is size (redistribution of fat to muscle) more important? How about your diet (that is diet as in what you will choose to eat for the remainder of your life versus diet as it applies to ATKINS, South Beach, etc. These are life changing activities, not necessarily a fad for the next few days or weeks.) How will an exercise program impact your health? Of what will the exercise program consist?

Develop clear, written scripts on what you WANT. Below is an example of what you might choose as an outline to develop your WANT for improved health.


Diet: Atkins diet-2 weeks of induction. Eliminate bread, pasta, potatoes, and rice from diet. Start on 9/10/04. Commit as a life goal.


Investigate exercise programs. Consider hiring an exercise coach.

Evaluate performance: Pay the folks at SIFT to evaluate before and after results after 26 weeks.

Now you might be one of those who would say ‘Gerry, I don’t need to write it down. I can remember.’ My main reason for suggesting that you write it down is to avoid conflicts. Life gets in our way. Writing it down can keep our path clear so when life does get in the way, we will be able to come back, focusing on what we WANT.

What would be the effect of working with an exercise coach who is a nutritionist? What if this exercise coach/nutritionist had a conflict with the diet of your choice? What is the effect of having a different message sent to you regarding your choice of diets over that of the exercise coach/nutritionist? Might you reconsider working out with someone who believes you’re wrong? Some people might choose to stop exercising. If your WANT results are clearly written, you know how and when to make adjustments. Surrounding ourselves with people who have common WANTS (from their value and belief systems), will allow you to get the results you WANT and deserve.


Much like writing goals, being clear on your WANT by writing it down will get you the results, built on relationships that you WANT.
